Graduate Level Resources
CRSB is associated with multiple graduate, PhD granting departments and programs, as well as Post Doctoral learning programs, resources and expertise.
For more information see the individual programs. Also see Graduate Students – Resources to Help Graduate Students Prepare for Non-Academic Careers, above.
Upper Level Graduates and Postdoctoral
In addition to research, postdoctoral scholars in the Center can pursue career development training with sister programs, including popular grant and proposal writing, leadership & management workshops and more, sponsored by the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3). We also work closely with the Center for Computational Biology (CCB), and the Computational Genomics Resource Laboratory (CGRL).
Other Resources to Help Graduate Students
Most US research institutions are facing challenges in preparing their graduate students and postdocs for an increasingly competitive job market, partly resulting from a shrinking pool of academic positions.
There are several campus programs aimed at helping graduate students and post-docs explore non-academic STEM career options, including:
- Visiting Scholars & Postdoc Affairs Office
- PIEP: Postdoc Industry Exploration Program
- Berkeley Postdoc Entrepreneurs Program
- Beyond Academia
- SLAM (STEM Leadership and Management)
- Community Resources for Science (CRScience) – Practical Support for Great Science Teaching
