Models that account only for the effects of natural processes are not able to explain the warming observed over the past century. Models that also account for the greenhouse gases emitted by humans are able to explain this warming. Click the image to view a larger version.

1. Introduction

Global Warming - Impacts and Future Perspective. Global warming and climate change refer to an increase in average global temperatures. Natural events and human activities are believed to be main contributors to such increases in average global temperatures. The climate change, caused by rising emissions of carbon dioxide from vehicles, factories and power stations, will not only effects the atmosphere and the sea but also will alter the geology of the Earth. Emissions of carbon dioxide due to our use of fossil energy will change the climate and the temperature is estimated to increase by 2 to 6 o Celsius within year , which is a tremendous increase from our current average temperature of 1.

Global climate change has typically occurred very slowly over thousands or millions of years. However, research shows that the current climate is changing more rapidly than shown in geological records. During the last ice age, the British Isles had many glaciers like the example above, located in present-day Iceland. The energy output of the Sun is not constant, it varies over time and this has an impact on our climate. The period between these changes happen over 10s of s of years precession and axial tilt to more than s of s of years eccentricity. At other times, the ellipse is more pronounced so that the Earth moves closer and further away from the Sun as it orbits. When the Earth is closer to the Sun our climate is warmer and this cycle also affects the length of the seasons.

The production of solar energy in cities is clearly a way to diminish our dependency to fossil fuels, and is a good way to mitigate global warming by lowering the emission of greenhouse gases. However, what are the impacts of solar panels locally? To evaluate their influence on urban weather, it is necessary to parameterize their effects within the surface schemes that are coupled to atmospheric models. The present paper presents a way to implement solar panels in the Town Energy Balance scheme, taking account of the energy production for thermal and photovoltaic panels , the impact on the building below and feedback toward the urban micro-climate through radiative and convective fluxes. A scenario of large but realistic deployment of solar panels on the Paris metropolitan area is then simulated. These impacts are larger than those found in previous works, because of the use of thermal panels that are more efficient than photovoltaic panels and the geographical position of Paris, which is relatively far from the sea. This means that it is not influenced by sea breezes, and hence that its UHI is stronger than for a coastal city of the same size.

If CO 2 continues to rise further into the twenty-third century, then the associated large increase in radiative forcing, and how the Earth system would respond, would likely be without geological precedent in the last half a billion years.

global warming, it is first necessary to become familiar. with the greenhouse effect. As Fig.1 depicts, the natural. greenhouse effect normally traps some portion of.

The warming observed in the early 20th century — is one of the most intriguing and less understood climate anomalies of the 20th century. To investigate the contributions of natural and anthropogenic factors to changes in the surface temperature, we performed seven model experiments using the chemistry-climate model with interactive ocean SOCOL3-MPIOM. Contributions of energetic particle precipitation, heavily shortwave UV and weakly longwave UV, visible, and infrared absorbed solar irradiances, well-mixed greenhouse gases WMGHGs , tropospheric ozone precursors, and volcanic eruptions were considered separately.
