When a company finds itself unable to execute strategy, all too often the first reaction is to redraw the organization chart or tinker with incentives. Far more effective would be to clarify decision rights and improve the flow of information both up the line of command and across the organization. Then, the right structures and motivators tend to fall into place. From this data they have distilled—and ranked in order of importance—the top 17 traits exhibited by the organizations that are most effective at executing strategy.
Purpose : The general objective of this study was to investigate the influence of strategic leadership on the implementation of strategy in the commercial banks in Kenya. More specifically, the study investigated the influence of these components on the implementation of strategy in the commercial banks in Kenya. Methodology : The study adopted a quantitative research design whose target population was the top management team in the commercial banks in Kenya. Statistical analysis was then carried out on the data collected. The study recommends that the leadership and in particular the CEO to focus his energies on providing the strategic direction of the organization if it is to achieve its strategic objectives of remaining competitive in the market.
Many public sector organizations have shown a consistent lack of capability to execute their strategic plans compared with private sector organizations. This failure explains why most public sector organizations are grappling with the dynamics of the twenty-first century in service delivery. Further, the strategy execution gap is vast in the public sector organizations than in the private sector organizations. The purpose of this paper is built based on the curiosity to develop a conceptual model that can close the strategy execution gap in public sector organizations. The research adopted a qualitative research design, particularly, a case study research design approach as an ideal tool to conduct a holistic and in-depth survey of the trends in strategy execution in the public sector. From the findings of the study, it has been found that five out of the nine strategy execution components that were investigated showed higher scores.
Implementing corporate strategy requires a team effort headed by your organization's leadership team. Each person involved in change management has their responsibilities, and it is important for the entire organization to understand the role of leadership in strategic implementation to make delegating responsibility more effective. Strategic implementation of any kind of new company policy or program requires participation from all of the departments that will be affected. Company leadership needs to identify what those departments are and create an implementation team that consists of representatives from each affected group. Management needs to create a structure that identifies various group leaders, the responsibilities of those group leaders and an accountability system that insures that the implementation team meets its timetable for getting the new program or policy in place.

Leadership and specifically strategic leadership have been identified as one of the key drivers of effective strategy implementation.

The focus groups were senior and middle-level managers of commercial banks in Kenya. A mixed research approach, which combined qualitative and quantitative methods, was adopted for this study.
