This level 3 qualification is delivered on a part time basis, with a course available at our Somer Valley Campus, and during a morning off site in Hartcliffe, Bristol. It is tailored for those individuals who have experience of working or volunteering in a school, and who have previous learning at level 2 or above. It will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to support learning in schools. You will be expected to attend College one day a week to obtain the theory element of the programme, which will include written assignments. Certificate level will show competence in both knowledge and skills is suitable for learners to would like to work as a teaching assistant or are a new teaching assistant, learning support assistant or in a similar role in schools at level 2. The level 2 course prepares you for the role if you have limited or no experience and are looking to make this your career. Maths, English and IT will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level. This course is college and work experience based. You will be in college for 1 day of 5 hrs per week and in work practice a minimum 1 day per week.

This course will help you to develop the knowledge and skills required to provide high level effective support as a teaching assistant. Your knowledge is assessed by regular assignments.
