Combinatorial chemistry comprises chemical synthetic methods that make it possible to prepare a large number tens to thousands or even millions of compounds in a single process. These compound libraries can be made as mixtures, sets of individual compounds or chemical structures generated by computer software. Strategies that allow identification of useful components of the libraries are also part of combinatorial chemistry. The methods used in combinatorial chemistry are applied outside chemistry, too. The most important innovation of the combinatorial method is to use mixtures in the synthesis and screening that ensures the high productivity of the process. Motivations that led to the invention had been published in

Combinatorial chemistry has been widely adopted by the pharmaceutical industry in the past decade. This movement away from solid-phase, numerically large, combinatorial library synthesis results from the current industry view that can be summarized by the following statements:. The quantitation of solid-phase chemistry, especially at the single bead level, is very difficult and not generally applicable.
Seth G. Bihani S. College of Technical Education, Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. ABSTRACT The Combinatorial Chemistry is a scientific method in which a very large number of chemical entities are synthesized by condensing a small number of chemical compounds together in all combinations defined by a small set of chemical reactions. Combinatorial technologies provided a possibility to produce new compounds in practically unlimited number.
Combinatorial chemistry is somewhat hard to define. These techniques are now largely automated, but do not necessarily have to be. The collection of compounds made in this way is generally known as a library. This branch of chemistry is very young, but in this short time it has had profound effects.
